I really loved that song. Along with the electonic voice intoning "Makes Me Want to Cry" part, I love that part of the song. Damn, why can't everybody have cool electro sounding effect anymore today?:cool2: I love that robotic intonation coming around to Keith Sweat's Something Just Ain't Right!

Hi 83survivor,

Ah yes A classic Kieth Sweat moment.
The electronic voice you talked about is made through a device called a vocoder (also known as a harmonizer). You hook up a microphone to a synthesizer via this module and it makes able to sing along with the notes and chords you play on the keyboard. You can sort of mould the sounds with your voice and words.

The master of the device was Roger Troutman and his band Zapp who were instrumental in creating the sound on such jams as "More Bounce To The Ounce", "Dance Floor" and Roger Troutman outstanding version of "I Heard It Through The Grapewine" from way back in 1981.

Vocoders are still popular today. Even Cher used them on her "If You Believe In Love" from a few years ago.

Yeah, Roger used it alot! Some local island recording artists have been using the vocoder recently.
