The setting was perfect: A warm summer night at the infamous Tivoli Gardens in Central Copenhagen. About a few thousand people showed up that night in order to check out whether this classic Funk / disco unit could still cut the cake.
Needless to say, we were all in for a treat:
The full nine members soon appeared on stage, end even though not all of them are original members, they still managed to sound just like that. Lead vocals were handled by Skip Martin (formerly of The Dazz Band) along with this other guy who both looks and sings like James JT Taylor, even though its not him.
Both singers did a pretty good Job taking us all through hits like "Too Hot" and "Let's Go Dancin" allthough hearing Skip Martin's take on Cherish (originally sung by JT Taylor) felt somehow strange - but then again, what are they to do :laughin:
Around 30 mins into the show, the band went into 70s funk Mode and performed many of the mid 70s classics. Jungle Boogie and Open Sessame really set the crowd on fire - people were just jumping around all over the place. Some of the instrumental solo's didn't really cut it - they were definetely more showoffs than music, but I guess we can't have everything!
More early 80s hits followed like "Get Down On it" and of course, the choice of encore was hardly surprising: what else than the classic "Celebration"
All 'n All a nice show and a solid performance by the band. Not a bad way to spend a friday evening
