A little FYI for non-djs:
Scratching: Rhythmic manipulation of a record by hand in conjunction with a volume fader or other controls on a DJ mixer.
Scribble: When a DJ moves a record back and forth quickly, creating a staccato scratching sound.
Stab: A short, powerful scratch made by pushing a record forward, then returning the record to its original spot silently.
Backstab: Same as a stab, but the sound is made by moving the record backward.
Drag: A long, slow scratch.
Tear: Splitting up a drag or other scratches by pausing midway through.
Twiddle: Another form of breaking up a scratch into several notes.
