Great news for Bon Jovi fans around the globe! Bon Jovi has released Live at Madison Square Garden DVD and Bon Jovi – DVD Collector’s Box Set (actual public release date for DVD Collector’s Box is Jan. 25, 2011).
Could the reason the two Bon Jovi DVDs released this month were prompted by the fact that their mega-hit album Slippery When Wet was released 25 years ago this August? Or could it be that Bon Jovi performed at Madison Square Garden 19 years to the day after the band first performed there? Whatever the reason, these two DVDs are a must have for any Bon Jovi fan.
Bon Jovi’s Live at Madison Square Garden is an incredible document of their return to Madison Square Garden, New York City’s most iconic venue. For a group born across the water in New Jersey, `The Garden‘ was the always a holy grail, the marker that they had made it. Bon Jovi returned to the same stage for the last date of their historic “Lost Highway” tour, officially the biggest tour on the planet in 2008. Created by award winning Director, Anthony M. Bongiovi and shot with 23 High Definition cameras, “Live From Madison Square Garden” features a career spanning set list including “Have A Nice Day,” “Always,” “Wanted Dead Or Alive,” “Livin’ On A Prayer” and even a cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” that Cohen himself rates as his favorite version. This is a snapshot of a band 25 years into a record-breaking career and still hitting their peak in the live arena.
The Bon Jovi: DVD Collector’s Box Set two-disc documentary chronicles the entire story of the New Jersey rockers institution’s career. Despite never having been particularly fashionable, Bon Jovi carry on year after year, releasing dynamic material and playing stunning live shows – and in the process remain amongst the most successful and best selling rock bands of all time; these guys must be doing something right! Indeed, what they have done right since their emergence in the early 1980s is keep their fans delighted, entertained and excited, and feeling part of the great Bon Jovi family at all times. And it is for those very same fans that this DVD box set has been created.
Over two discs this set tells the complete story of Bon Jovi, from their days working, night after night, in the nightclubs and bars of New Jersey, to their position today as prime movers in rock’s elite class. Featuring rare performance and interview footage of the group, contributions from those who have known them best – including friends, colleagues, fellow musicians and others with whom they have worked – location shoots, news reports, seldom seen photographs (many of which come from private collections and remain previously unpublished) and of course some of the best music made during the past 30 years. Both discs also contain multiple extra features and this limited edition package is all set to become a BJ collector’s item of the first order.
The montage of great Hughes moments was followed by a handful of his most famous leading actors talking about the writing and directing legend.
On stage were actors and actresses who played roles in Hughe’s movies, some of which are considered members of the 80’s brat pack: Anthony Michael Hall, Macaulay Culkin, Jon Cryer, Ally Sheedy and Judd Nelson, and each told a Hughes anecdote. Hughes’ family was in the audience and stood to thunderous applause.
Ringwald told the audience that at 16, “Hughes saw something in me that I didn’t see in myself.” Broderick continued that a day doesn’t go by that someone doesn’t tap him on the shoulder and ask “Hey Ferris, is this your day off?”
The moving montage showed key sequences from comedies that Hughes had written and directed, including ‘Sixteen Candles,’ ‘The Breakfast Club,’ ‘National Lampoon’s Vacation,’ ‘Some Kind of Wonderful,’ ‘Pretty in Pink,’ ‘Home Alone‘ and ‘Planes, Trains and Automobiles.’
The show, which will be distributed by Warner Bros Records, will be available on DVD, Blu-Ray and CD and will include many of the Material Girls hits from the course of her unprecedented career including, ‘4 Minutes,’ ‘Like a Prayer, ‘Hung Up’ and ‘Ray of Light’. Filmed in Buenos Aires, over four days to a crowd exceeding 256,000 fans, the concert also includes a show stopping moment when Madonna performs a historic ‘Don t Cry For Me Argentina’ to a thunderous audience response from her Argentine fans.
Also included are several hits from the multi-Grammy winners most recent CD ‘Hard Candy’ which debuted at No. 1 in 37 countries. The DVD also includes 30 minutes of exclusive footage filmed behind the scenes during the course of the tour.
